Qatar and Farmaajo: Attempting to Drag Somaliland into War

The public opinion in the Horn of Africa region believes the renewed fighting in the border between the Somaliland Republic and the autonomous Somali state of Puntland is a dent to the already tarnished record of the government of Mohammed Abdullah Faramajo, that is backed by government of Qatar whose main objective is to escalate the tension to full fledged war.

It is obvious that fueling the hostility and the rivalry in Somalia – particularly between Somaliland and Puntland – is an ideal opportunity for Qatar’s Al Hamdan Family, an organization that already finances terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq and now turning to the strategic Horn of Africa

The Al Hamdan Mafia uses the Farmajo government in Mogadishu, which is internationally labeled as the most failed and fragile state in the world, to provide heavenly hideouts for the terrorism and chaos in the region.

Many regional observers pointed out that Qatar decided employing of what they call “Exploiting Weak Political Situation” in Somalia, which is now on the brink of a complete collapse to become once again a fertile breeding ground for lawlessness.

Officials in the government of Somaliland have accused Qatar and its agents in Mogadishu of creating unrest between them and neighboring Puntland province of Somalia, and the same time arming and providing training for paramilitary militias of Faramajo.

The United Nations Assistance Mission for Somalia (UNSOM) and the international donor partners of Somalia, including the United States and the European Union, have called on both parties to stop the fighting.
Such clashes increased the suffering of the people in the region who have already been in difficult humanitarian situation, and recently been devastated by a deadly tropical cyclone Sagar that left behind a huge destruction in Somaliland.
