Somaliland Chamber of Commerce announced back in November that the 8th Somaliland International Trade Fair would be held 9th to 15th December, 2018 at the Guleed Hotel in Hargeisa. The fair usually promotes the local production and trade in the country as well as the agriculture, industries, livestock and general services available in the country.

As reported by Somaliland online news sources, the Ethiopian government has named a new consular/representative to its mission in Somaliland, nominating Shamsudin Ahmed Rooble – a Somali native who has ties to Awdal region of Somaliland.
Founded in 1994, ONLF recently gave up the armed struggle that they pursued over the years and agreed to transform into a political party. Therefore, they will be probably the most organized political group operating in the Somali State of Ethiopia. They are second only to SEPDP, the State’s ruling party.

Last week, the Minister of Energy & Minerals of Somaliland, His Excellency Jama Mahmoud Egal, has issued a directive banning the import of Metal Detecting Devices used for gold prospecting. On the same day, there were International press reports indicating that Sudan has exported some 78 tons of gold during the first 9 months of 2018. Earlier, the Government of Somaliland has barred the people of Sanaag Region from prospecting for gold in the mountains of that beautiful region.
